SoS Logisitics

Several tools were used to help coordinate DTS staff, church staff, and volunteers, as well as to keep track of tasks and facilitate communications.

Asana

Coming from an IT management background, Kanban boards are commonplace for me. There are a variety of tools that can be used to achieve this. The church already uses Asana for ministry, so I adapted to use their tool of choice and started creating known tasks based on previous experiences and tasks that needed to be completed in the first two months.

Being a stickler for proper workflow and workstreams, I added a custom field based on workstream. These focus areas included administrative, communications, logistics, registrations, and volunteer work. This workflow coordination can also be done in MS Planner, Monday, and Jira, to name a few. The concepts and tasks are the same.

Signup Genius

A Signup Genius was created to facilitate this part of the Story of Scripture and set clear volunteer needs and commitments. Once the draft was created, it was vetted by church staff who held conferences similar in size and complexity.
